2009 Pennies for Paws Concludes at CCHS
The Chautauqua County Humane Society announced that it counted ONE MILLION SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED pennies raising, $16,547.00. All of the funds raised during the campaign, which started February 12th, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and concluded April 12th, will provide care and comfort to the animals while they wait for their second chance at a forever home.

“Pennies for Paws” was sponsored by the five radio stations of the Media One Group; WJTN, SE93, WHUG, 103.1 The Fox, and WKSN. Sue Bobek, Community Relations Coordinator stated, “We recruited the assistance of everyone we could to get involved, and we are very grateful to all of the individuals, organizations, and schools that made this goal a reality.” Reinhardt further explained, “Each penny donated goes towards providing nutritious food, a soft bed, medical attention and loving care that rejuvenates the spirits of the unwanted cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at the shelter.”
