Legacy Society

Planning Your LegacyThe Chautauqua County Humane Society's success depends on the kindness of people who care about animal welfare in their community. We receive no governmental support of any kind. You can make a difference for the long term support of CCHS. Consider leaving a gift to help the animals in your community. Your legacy gift, whether it be dollars, personal property, stocks and bonds, insurance, or other gifts can dramatically improve the lives of thousands of animals and enhance the quality of life of the people who adopt them.

Types of Gifts
Wills and Bequests
A gift to the Chautauqua County Humane Society by Will permits you to retain all of your assets during your lifetime. This is easy to arrange and may be in the form of cash, real estate, a percentage of your estate, life insurance policies or annuities.

Outright Gift
A gift of cash, real property, or appreciated securities may be the most conventional way for you to make a contribution to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.

Charitable Trust
With their combination of charitable support, income to one or more beneficiaries and tax savings, charitable trusts are useful in estate planning. This may be the option for you if you are looking to reduce your taxes.

Life Estate
Through the life estate agreement, you would deed the property to CCHS and you would retain the right to continued use of the property for the rest of your life, or your spouse's life. At the end of your lifetime, CCHS would then receive full ownership of the property.

Life Insurance
A gift of a life insurance policy with CCHS named as the beneficiary of the policy can be an effective method for you to make a gift to us.

Retirement Funds
Retirement investments are often diverse. Through a combination of planning strategies, you may be able to protect your retirement income, and at the same time provide for a contribution to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.

Gift Annuities
When you transfer cash or securities over a certain dollar amount to CCHS, you can create a gift annuity that would guarantee you a fixed stream of income for life. This income would flow to you (and to your spouse), after which the remaining principal of the annuity would become a gift to CCHS.

If you want to build a better world for animals please ask us about planned giving.
